There's some rule and category changes for 2027 as voted by the public. Please take a look below for all the changes and the FAQ at the bottom.
AWARDS
BEST IN SHOW
Chosen from the winners of each category for both days. Their piece will be used imagery for next year's commendation cards.
TROPHIES
We have Gold, Silver and Bronze awarded in each category.
FINALIST PINS
Awarded in each category - limit of 6.
A gold CHILLCON painting competition finalist pin.
COMMENDATION
Awarded in each category - no limit.
A premium collectible card.
ENTRY BADGE
The first 400 people to submit their pieces will receive the 2027 design button badge to add to their collection.
One per person.

UNIT OR SQUAD

SINGLE MINIATURE
This category encompasses a single human-sized miniature from any genre, which can be either mounted or on foot, placed on a suitably sized base. Mounted options may include horses, monsters, small vehicles, bikes, or jet bikes.

UNIT OR SQUAD

This category is for squads or units that contains 3 or more miniatures (max 12) from any genre, which can be either mounted or on foot, placed on a suitably sized base. Mounted options may include horses, monsters, small vehicles, bikes, or jet bikes.
VEHICLE
This category is dedicated to individual vehicles, encompassing tanks, walkers, and flyers from any genre. Whether historically accurate or from the realm of science fiction, all models submitted should be standalone and not require a base.

MONSTER
This category encompasses any monsters or creatures that exceed human size and are appropriately themed. It is open to all genres.

DISPLAY
This category celebrates everything larger scale such as busts, dioramas or show pieces. This is open to any genre.
This category is in memory of our good friend Normski who had a great passion for painting and CHILLCON.
JUNIORS
This category welcomes all participants aged 14 and under. You are free to enter any of the categories mentioned above: Single Miniature, Unit or Squad, Vehicle, Monster, or Display. You can select either a junior entry card or a standard entry card based on your preferred level of judging. Please see the full rules for more details.

RULES FOR ENTRIES
MODEL SCALE
There is no limit to the model scale.
SQUAD SIZE
If you're entering a squad - please keep squad sizes to a maximum of 12 models.
BASE & SIZE LIMITS
All models must be based. (Except Vehicle)
Please keep base/display bases sizes under 10" x 10"

CATEGORIES
You may enter pieces into multiple categories - however there is a limit to one piece per category.
JUDGES
Judging will start from 12pm.
Judges reserve the right to move pieces into another category if its better suited.
Please follow these guidelines for all entries:

Single Miniature, Unit or Squad - size limit of 6”x 6”.

Monster - size limit of 10" x 10" (or as close as possible)

Display - size limit of 10" x 10" (or as close as possible)

Please be considerate of your vehicle size, sadly due to size constraints we can not accept superheavy class vehicles such as Forge World Titans, baneblades, tau mantas or others of equivalent size.

We are able to store your storage boxes, however please label them (we accept no responsibility for loss or damage)
Are You Attending Both Days?
If you plan to attend both days and wish to participate in the painting competition, you are welcome to do so. Please note that different entries are required for each day, as identical submissions will not be accepted. We look forward to showcasing your creativity!
HOW TO ENTER
The painting competition is free to enter, it's all included in the ticket price, to enter please follow these following steps:
Once you've entered the show, head on over to the painting competition registration stand.
Entries start at 10:00am and close at 12:00pm
judges begin to judge entries at 12:00pm and winners announced at 15:00pm and collection begins at 15:30pm
We'll be opening applications from late September 2026.

Can I enter multiple pieces?
Yes, you may enter a maximum of one piece into each category.

I'm attending both days, can I enter each day?
Yes, absolutely, however you're unable to enter the same piece for both days, it would need to be a different piece each day,

Can I enter the same piece as Sheffield 2026?
If you won one of the categories from 2026, we ask you enter a different piece.
