All of the following awards are applicable to all categories with the exception of "Under 16's" - this category will have their own prizes.
BEST IN SHOW
Chosen from the winners of each category. Their piece will be used imagery for 2027 commendation cards.
1ST PLACE
Awarded in each category.
Each category has a specific trophy and prizes.
FINALIST PINS
Awarded in each category - limit of 4.
A gold CHILLCON painting competition finalist pin.
COMMENDATION
Awarded in each category - no limit.
A premium artwork card with 2025 best in show artwork and the painting competition logo.
ENTRY BADGE
The first 400 people to submit their pieces will receive the 2026 design button badge to add to their collection.

how to enter
The painting competition is free to enter, it's all included in the ticket price, to enter please follow these following steps:
Once you've entered the show, head on over to the painting competition registration stand.
Entries start at 10:00am and close at 12:00pm
judges begin to judge entries at 12:00pm and winners announced at 15:30pm and collection begins at 15:45pm

HISTORICAL
If you're passionate about historical, then here's the category for you! From Romans, Vikings, Napoleonic's and to the more modern WW1 & WW2. Anything that is historically accurate is welcome. (Examples only)

FANTASY
Here, we celebrate all things high fantasy and low technology, including beloved games like Dungeons and Dragons, Age of Sigmar, Kings of War, Lord of the Rings and Frostgrave. (Examples only)

SCI-FI
Anything from games from a science fiction universe, such as: Warhammer 40k, Necromunda, Infinity, Dreadball, Warzone, Star wars and so much more are welcome. (Examples only)

VEHICLE
We're classing a vehicle as something that has tracks, wheels or fly's/hovers or a transport that has a capacity of two or more. Walkers will also be entered into this category.​

OPEN & DISPLAY
Anything that is an obvious diorama, or something depicting some kind of scene. Things like busts also go in this category as well as larger scale miniatures that do not belong to a specific game system.

Please note: for dioramas we ask that base sizes do not exceed 6x6 inches in their footprint and also ask that they do not exceed 6 inches in height, if you also require power for your piece we are unable to provide this option for you. If you wish to use a power bank, please ensure it's a small compact version and concealed inside.
UNDER 16'S
This category is open to Under 16's only, Anything can be entered from any of the categories. All we ask is it fits in with the rules regarding size or squad size.

Please follow these guidelines for all entries:

Please keep any squads to 5 or less models.

For larger models we ask that base sizes do not exceed 6' x 6' (inches)

Please be considerate of your vehicle size, sadly due to size constraints we can not accept superheavy class vehicles such as baneblades, tau mantas or others of equivalent size.

No more than one entry per category.

We are able to store your storage boxes, however please label them (we accept no responsibility for loss or damage)

Models need to be fully based.

Judges reserve the right to move pieces into another category if its better suited.

If you're attending both days: please enter different pieces.
